Biography

Hi! My name is April Lyons. I am a veteran special education teacher, with 28 years of experience, ranging from elementary to high school. I have a master’s degree in library science, but my heart and passion are rooted at the secondary level. 

As the mom of a child with autism and other learning disabilities, my goal has always been to empower my students to become productive and happy citizens. My son is 23 years old and is returning to Auburn University for his third year, majoring in laboratory sciences. He is proof that disabilities do not define people. 

In my spare time, you can find me crafting or spending time with my family, especially my twin, 16 year old nephew, or my Labradoodle, Finley. I am excited to begin my journey as a Redtop!
